“What was your motivation to start a blog? And why the attempt to mirror BFP? Parhaps you belong to Mia and want t0 be able to trace IP addresses. I say no to a link with The Bystander.”
This was a comment that a reader of the Barbados Free Press website left on their blog. I think my reply below can also be used as a suitable about page for my own blog:
“Dear No-name,
1. My motivation to start an opinionated blog was simple. I have opinions that I like to discuss in the open and I like to solicit feedback and debate from others. I’ve also thought about starting an online only, Barbadian newspaper. However, my current financial position prevents me from doing as such.
2. As for ‘mirroring’ the BFP, if you meant to ask why I chose the same layout, well that’s easy. I like the BFP layout, it’s plain and simple and easy on the eyes. I’m no expert at web nor print design, but I can appreciate those qualities and hope that readers appreciate it as well. And if that doesn’t convince you, well you know what they say: “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”
3. Trace IP addresses? I post to BFP using a combination of Tor and Privoxy. Google around and read up on what those products allow you to do. Better yet, visit this link: http://tor.eff.org/ I also post to my own blog using those applications. I don’t work for, nor represent any political party in Barbados. In fact, the only thing I represent is opinion and independent thought.
How does that sound?”
