Soon. My days are numbered, slowly dwindling. Like the last remaining grains of sand falling through the hourglass that is time. It is my last semester at BCC and final exams are just around the corner. Soon. UWI. Now it feels as if I haven’t posted an entry in ages, but my responsibilities in the off-line world are currently far more greater than here, on the web.
This brings up an interesting thought or two, how can busy bloggers blog consistently? I have a friend from up north who has (was) been blogging off an on for a while now (almost a year, I think.) She slowed down a bit a while ago. Off-line life was hectic and competed fiercely for whatever spare time she had. As a result, her blog suffered miserably and has probably died a slow, miserable, lonesome death by now.
CWC is over and the resulting spin by the BLP Government is full on. The good folks over at Barbados Free Press are on the ball as always. Closely monitoring the spin doctors and revealing the truth behind the lies for the whole world to see. I close my eyes and I see a caped crusader. The words ‘BFP’ emblazoned across the chest of a superhero-type costume. Standing atop a tall buildling, throwing caution to the wind. The citizens in the streets looking up in awe and admiration. Go get ‘em, BFP!

Actually I don’t think all blogs have to be constantly updating at such a hectic pace. I mean what happened to monthly, semi-annual and annual publications, or even *gasp* regular websites lol.
It’s not a problem friend.
As for BLP, everyone’s entitled to their views but I’m pretty proud of their decisions and success in local and international decisions. e.g success with UN over where our ocean and Trinidad’s are and the increased fishing and oil resources we now have access to. Also in defying Hugo Chavez and his evil dictatorship trying to bribe us with cheap, “loaned” oil. That would have been very dangerous if we had accepted. I’m proud of our government and the progress we’re making including in the Barbados Stock Exchange and trying to change anti-sodomy law and clearly stating noone will be prosecuted for consensual, private gay sex. Also the push for recognizing spirituality and morality on preventing murder and crime. Regrets? Lack of success changing the anti-sodomy law yet. Maybe not clear support for the USA in the war against terrorism but we are taking it somewhat seriously especially for the CWC and the hospital incident where men interrogated our capacity for mass casualties and other suspicious behavior posing as government agents. Also not giving fair trading commission even more power and more crusade against some unfair business practices still done especially by banks. But all in all, being an independant usually the BLP is wise and has gained my respect. I wouldn’t have the DLP government with David Thompson. Alot of highly dangerous BS and favoritism there.

Ahem, I have been talking about the Clearly Wasted cricket too! (stalks off in a sniffy huff, secretly grinning at this shameless promo of his own work)

Ian,
CWC a.k.a Clearly Wasted Cricket. Indeed you have Ian, indeed you have. Anyone who hasn’t noticed this clearly has had their head stuck in the sand…
Good show, old man. Good show.

JustinBlade,
I used to be proud of the BLP too. That is, until I started reading BFP. That site opened my eyes. I too felt proud about the very same comments that you posted. But now I feel different about The Party. The BU has also posted interesting articles. Both sites post on the B’s and the D’s. Right now, I don’t fancy either party. I fancy information and lots of it. Change is on the horizon and sites like BFP and BU are forcing that change to occur at a rapid pace. The political officials can no longer hide easily.
Like Fox said, “the truth is out there.”

The Bystander.

The Bystander,
I really appreciate it and the sites you linked. Understand your perspective and of course no destructive/evil acts should happen by either party, especially if consistent. But I also know noone is perfect and we all need correction and forgiveness at some point in our lives and that includes political parties, I appreciate those who have the moral fortitude to admit fault and I will always vote for and support who does greatest benefit and whom is sincere, but not necessarily who “tells the truth”, there is a difference. While I believe in honesty, sincerity and integrity are values needing to be even more upheld, “truth” is not something that should be focused on as it distracts from the more important, are they/my actions beneficial or harmful to others, and cause harm in single minded focus as truth can very much depend on perspective and yet be true in all cases. How so? Take a people going to the same party, same say it sucked and people were arguing and getting on bad there, while and not group says it was great and everyone was laughing and have fun.
Thanks for your kind response
Now of course their is the personal views part for variety of perspective but I’m not even talking about that. If you went to a party or even took a picture of it and your focus was on the couple arguing and fighting then that’s what your viewpoint will be, on the other hand you saw the group of friends or focus on those in the picture that were having fun and laughing you would be influenced in viewpoint by that. The human mind cannot focus on multiple viewpoints at once, tho it can shift rapidly, and when we focus on something we lose focus of everything else to the point we don’t notice it, it doesn’t register and what we focus on becomes our reality. Thus I warn, be careful what you put your and others focus on for you are making that your reality and dominating your emotional state. That’s the problem with news, it focuses on the rare, thus making plane crashes seem more common than cars when the reverse it true. Much needs to be paid attention to, but with the appropriate amount of focus, neither excessive or too little. (tho yes, if there is a disporporion one may have to go a bit further the other way… but never to the point he/she begins to hate and have complete and utter intolerance for people of differing opinions. Strong disagreement? Definitely. Anger, sure… if for them hurting themselves or others and for purpose of helping / restrained by compassion. Hate? Absolutely not.
Just some more food for thought
Thank you for your genuine compassion and balance in your response to me. It means alot, period.

“…I appreciate those who have the moral fortitude to admit fault…”
——————–
Which political parties do you know of that have readily and openly admitted their faults? I see and hear only spin.
“While I believe in honesty, sincerity and integrity are values needing to be even more upheld, “truth” is not something that should be focused on…”
——————–
The truth is not something to be focused on? If I understand you correctly, are you saying that we should focus on our/their actions instead of the truth?
The truth is the truth, plain and simple, good or bad. Anything else is not the truth. I cannot see how focusing on the truth is a bad thing. I want to focus on what has happened, i.e., the truth. You’ll have to simplify your comments a bit, or give me an easier example. However, if I had the choice, I’d choose, or try to choose, truth all the time.
What’s your background, if I may ask, philosophy, etc.?
Yours,
The Bystander.
